Frequently Asked Questions

How often do sessions take place and how long do they last?

The majority of people choose to come once a week for the duration of their therapy, however this is negotiable as this may not be possible for everyone for a variety of reasons. Each session will last for 50 minutes.

How does therapy work, at what point might I benefit?

Therapy aims to relieve psychological distress. As we jointly come to understand the relational, social and cultural factors from your own unique experiences, some people begin to feel better, on some occasions, after the first session, others can take longer. For some, this may involve reflection on difficult or painful memories and experiences in your life, where this is the case, you may feel worse for a while in the early stages of therapy. If this occurs, we will discuss ways to try to manage this stage in the therapeutic process.

How much will I have to pay?

I charge £65.00 per session for individual therapy and £85.00 per session when working with couples. I am registered as a Mental health Provider (MHP) with BUPA you can find me on finder.bupa.co.uk/go/drdeeaffleck, I am also a registered provider with AVIVA and VITALITY.

What if I need to cancel a session?

I will not charge for sessions where 48 hours notice of cancellation is given.
