Clinical Supervision

A substantial part of my role, as an accredited CAT supervisor, is the provision of clinical supervision. I currently supervise colleagues who offer therapy from a range of different professional disciplines; these include psychotherapists, counsellors, clinical psychologists and psychiatrists. Some supervisees are themselves accredited CAT therapists, but in addition, I also offer supervision to practitioners who wish to adopt a CAT informed approach.

As stated in my brief overview of CAT, as a relational model that focuses predominately on the social development of the processes of the self, clinical supervision through a CAT lens enables practitioners from a range of different therapeutic traditions, who wish to work relationally, to develop new dimensions of resources within themselves. In the supervisory relationship, there is a particular focus given to the therapeutic space in which practitioners work collaboratively alongside clients. Within the CAT frame, this is viewed as an intersubjective space in which the challenges of the therapeutic process need to be attuned to and explored further. Supervision aims to provide a safe space in which countertransference can be actively used to facilitate clients with an increased capacity for self-reflection enabling growth and change.

I am currently employed on a private basis by NHS Grampian, NHS Highland and NHS Lanarkshire to provide CAT supervision. I supervise practitioners working in primary and secondary care as well as those working in specialist services such as addictions, forensics, health psychology and eating disorder services.

I offer group, individual and telephone and/or SKYPE supervision. My fee for group work is dependent on the number of participants within the group. For individual supervision, my fee is £60.00 per hour. Please feel free to contact me if you wish to discuss supervision further.
